As I continue to read and learn about my business I am fascinated that business plan for holidays many months if not a full year in advance. That’s no different in the bath bomb & soap business. In fact, planning is probably more important. I have to plan on ordering all the different supplies, make a plan on when and how to make my products and then I have to actually do it. It can take 2-6 weeks just to make some of my products. That means soap production would have to start no later than the first week in August if I plan on having these products ready for beginning to middle September.
What if I don’t make enough and run out? I’m selling online, at farmers markets and events and I‘m in one retail store (hopefully another one very soon). My dad is teaching me the term “forecasting”. Its very complicated considering the fact that I didn’t have this business a year ago. That’s when I came up with doing a preorder for this upcoming offering, offering them in bulk and at a massive discount.
